| I think that kids are very sensitive to art; they love
color and shapes. They are so happy with crayons and molding clay!!! The younger they are
exposed to art, the more sensitive they become and start observing things around them. I
love to paint still life for kids.... it inmortalizes their world (what they think is beautiful or "cool"),
like a favorite teddy bear, a doll, a special toy, candy, etc.... I have created a colorful collection
of still life for kids to display in a child's bedroom or nursery so they can smile when they see
the painting(s) hanging in their space. These paintings are actual toys from my kids that I
considered nice. Sometimes I pose the models in different positions as to create humorous
paintings.
Customized Still Life Paintings
Some other Still Life paintings I do, are objects that sometimes we treasure because
they connect us to a particular feeling or memory, like "my kid's baby shoes", when I see the
shoes, I remember how little they were or why I got them -maybe for a particular celebration
or holiday-. There are simple objects -SHOES-, but there is something about them that I love
and I painted them to get those memories immortalized. I created "Cronology of Shoes" TM ;
which is a customized painting(s) of all the favorite shoes of a child, since baby till certain age
(5 yrs old). By looking at the shoes (color, size, shape and condition) they can tell a story and
you can see on them the age, behaviour and gender of a child. First, the baby shoes are so
clean and well preserved, as the baby doesn´t walk, then, you get the crawling shoes (you
can see all the marks and dirt on the front) and then, you have the walking shoes, the running
shoes, and so on, even snow boots!!!!
